Review: Margaret Dabbs Strengthening Treatment and Crystal File
Margaret Dabbs Strengthening Treatment & Crystal Nail File Review
Gifted product | Honest review
Living with ME/CFS, fibromyalgia and chronic pain has changed many aspects of my daily routine, including how I care for myself.
On difficult days, even small acts of self-care can make a difference to how I feel. Looking after my nails has become one of those little rituals that helps me feel more like myself.
When Margaret Dabbs kindly sent me their Strengthening Treatment and Crystal Nail File to try, I was interested to see whether they could help with my brittle nails, which have become increasingly prone to splitting and breaking.
Margaret Dabbs Strengthening Treatment Review
My nails have always been fairly weak, but in recent years they’ve become much more brittle.
The Margaret Dabbs Strengthening Treatment is designed to strengthen weak nails while helping to improve hydration and encourage healthier nail growth.
One of the first things I noticed was how lightweight it felt.
Unlike some strengthening treatments that can feel thick or leave nails looking dull, this applied smoothly and dried quickly, leaving a natural healthy shine. It can also be worn as a strengthening treatment on its own or used as a base coat before applying nail polish.
My Experience
While testing the treatment, I found my nails gradually became stronger and noticeably less prone to peeling and splitting.
Although no nail treatment works overnight, I was pleased with how healthy my nails looked after using it consistently.
The subtle glossy finish also made my nails look well cared for, even when I wasn’t wearing nail polish.
Margaret Dabbs Crystal Nail File Review
I’ve been using crystal nail files for years and honestly wouldn’t choose anything else now.
If you’ve only ever used traditional emery boards, you might be surprised by how different a crystal file feels.
The fine etched surface allows you to file your nails in either direction without causing the rough edges that can sometimes lead to splitting.
For me, this is particularly important because my nails are already quite fragile.
As someone living with chronic pain, I also appreciated how smoothly the file glided across my nails. It required very little pressure, making nail care feel much more comfortable.
Built to Last
Another reason I prefer crystal files is their durability.
Unlike disposable emery boards that quickly lose their effectiveness, a good-quality crystal file can last for years if looked after properly.
That makes it a worthwhile investment as well as being a more sustainable option.
What I Liked
✔ Helped strengthen my brittle nails
✔ Left nails with a healthy natural shine
✔ Can be used as a base coat
✔ Crystal file felt gentle on fragile nails
✔ Long-lasting alternative to disposable emery boards
Would I Recommend Them?
Yes.
If you struggle with weak or splitting nails, I think both products complement each other really well.
The strengthening treatment helped improve the condition of my nails, while the crystal file allowed me to shape them without causing further damage.
For me, they’ve become products I continue to reach for as part of my regular nail care routine.
Final Thoughts
Living with chronic illness has taught me that self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate.
Sometimes it’s simply taking a few minutes to care for yourself in whatever way feels manageable that day.
These products helped make that small act of self-care feel worthwhile, while also improving the condition of my nails.
