Unique Gifts for a 10 Year Old
It was Summer’s 10th Birthday this month, she has grown-up so quick! She is that age where her choice of toys is changing and shows more interest towards clothes, jewellery etc.. At this age I definitely find it can become more difficult to find gifts that she will enjoy and use. What I want to do is avoid getting a gift that goes on a shelf and never comes down.
Currently her favourite hobbies is, she likes reading, she loves to read in-bed before she goes to sleep, she finds reading calms her brain, and she loves getting engrossed into the stories she reads. Even a good fact book, where she can share those facts with you.
She also enjoys arts and crafts, she not only enjoys them, she finds doing arts and crafts therapeutical, inspiring and calming. She enjoys coming up with an idea and then bringing that idea to life with her creations. She loves to share them and/ or display them. Lately she has been making tiny little paper objects, i.e. tiny flowers, or tiny houses. So cute..
Anything sensory is also a favourite of hers, she loves a good rubrics cube type of toy where you can solve and fiddle with it - keeping her busy/occupied.
Finally, she has started to enjoy challenges, like mission kits and solving mysteries - something where she can engage her brain. One of her birthday wish lists was a pair of walkie talkies.
Her choice of toys or gifts have evolved as she has got older, thus I searched for different types of gifts for her, rather than dolls.. something more challenging and engaging; I was specifically looking for presents she will be interested in and enjoy. Unique gifts that you won’t necessary find on the toy stores and this is why my favourite website (my new friend) is Wicked Uncle. I find their search filter really helpful, as you can search via age, gender and category - and they have a great range available. The range of unique gifts they have on their website is fab!
It’s also coming up to Christmas, and I have already started to buy some gifts, or gather ideas. Looking through Wicked Uncle using the filters ables me to collect some gift ideas. I love finding gifts for family, one that I know they will enjoy and use.

Also for my 12-year old son I will be buying the World Flags Tablecloth - Doodle Your Own (he loves anything to do with flags).
